All-terrain vehicles, or ATVs, can be fun ways to get around in the wilderness. However, these vehicles can be as dangerous and deadly as they may be fun, and thousands of people in the U.S. end up getting seriously hurt every year in ATV accidents.

If you or someone you love has been hurt in an ATV accident (or in any motor vehicle accident), you can turn to the trusted Denver ATV accident lawyers at Cederberg Law for experienced, aggressive legal advocacy and effective help obtaining the compensation you may deserve.
The Facts about ATV Accidents and Injuries in the U.S.
Fact 1 – ATV accidents caused more than 107,000 people in the U.S. to seek emergency medical treatment last year.
According to the Consumer Protection Safety Commission (CPSC), since 2001, there have been more than 107,000 people reportedly hurt in ATV accidents each year in the U.S. While at least 107,500 people in the U.S. reportedly had to seek emergency medical treatment after ATV accidents, officials are still collecting and analyzing this data, so the true number of people injured in ATV accidents last year is likely significantly higher.
What may be just as tragic as the high rates of ATV accidents in the U.S. is the fact that about 1 out every 4 of these accidents that results in injuries impacts children and teens 16 years old or younger.
Fact 2 – California, Texas and Pennsylvania have seen the most fatal ATV accidents over the past 25 years.
In fact, the following is the top 10 list of the states in the U.S. that experience the most deadly ATV accidents each year (in order of most to least reported ATV accidents):
- West Virginia
- New York
- North Carolina
While Colorado is not among the top 10 states to report the most ATV accidents annually:
- Over the past decade or so, there have been at least 157 fatal ATV accidents in Colorado.
- The CPSC is still collecting data regarding ATV accidents for Colorado for the past few years.
We will continue to discuss some important facts about ATV accidents and injuries in a few upcoming installments of this blog series – don’t miss them!
