A Denver car accident attorney reports on the recent tragic death of John Nash, a renowned mathematician, in a fatal car accident.
Pioneer of the game theory and renowned mathematician John Nash was killed in a fatal car accident this past weekend in New Jersey. According to reports, Nash, 86, was traveling with his wife in a taxi cab on the New Jersey Turnpike in Monroe Township. At around 4:30pm, the cab driver lost control of the vehicle, veering into the right-most lane and hitting another vehicle and the guardrail.
The impact ejected Nash and his wife from the cab, causing them to sustain fatal injuries. While they were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, the cab driver and the motorist in the other vehicle survived and received treatment for their injuries at a nearby hospital.
According to New Jersey State Police, Nash and his wife were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision, and no criminal charges have been filed yet. Given, however, that the investigation is ongoing, charges may be filed soon, pending the outcome of the investigation.
Could the Cab Driver (or Other Driver) Be at Fault?
Little details (aside from those provided above) have been given about this fatal car accident, as the NJSP is still looking into whether criminal negligence was a factor in this collision. Depending on the details of the accident, however, it may be possible that the negligence of the cab driver – or some other motorist on the road – was a contributing factor in this crash.
In fact, the following are just some of the ways in which motorist negligence may have played a role in causing this accident:
- Drunk or impaired driving if any of the involved motorists were not sober and, consequently, caused the collision
- Distracted driving, which could have come in the form of texting while driving and may have led the cab driver to start drifting into other lanes of traffic
- Failure to abide by traffic laws, which may have result in the cab driver needing to make some last-minute maneuvers and, in doing so, losing control of the vehicle.
